Party Decoration Tutorial, Paper Garland

Between the food decorations, invitations, games, and just all around hoopla I love planning a party.   I have the absolute honor to host a bridal shower, along with my MIL, for my husband’s cousin.  As sad as it is that I’m losing my favorite house sitter to a house of her own I just can’t wait to celebrate.    One of the best things about celebrating is the decorations.   This is a quick tut for one of the decorations I made.  There are a million out there for the same thing but I couldn’t resist one of my own!

Paper Garland

Supplies:

Paper, heavy card stock or two sided scrap book paper

Large paper punch, I used 2” round

Coordinating thread

Sewing machine

First you will want to cut lots of paper circles!  Keep in mind you will be able to see both sides of the paper once the garland is complete so make sure both side of the paper a pretty.   

 Also,   I can’t say enough about the Fiskars squeeze punches.  The action is more like using a set of shears then a traditional punch.  I found it much easier on my hands and quicker too.  

Next decide how close together you want the circles to “hang”.  Mine are spaced about an inch apart and 25 circles made around five feet of garland. 

Then just sew them together, down the middle, one after another.  My friend asked about what needle I was using and if it damaged it any.  I'm using very well loved needle that was once suitable for denim but honestly I think anything would work. 

 See aren’t they simple and relatively quick.  I think it took me one evening to make a dozen.  Try different types of paper and color combinations for a whole new look.
